No two people have the same experience in a work of art. When I hand the painting over to you, it becomes yours. When I begin a painting, I often find that suggestions of new ideas flow more readily and look better than my best laid pre-plans. It's as if the painting has a life of it's own and tells me what it wants to become. This one chose to become a surrealistic landscape and I love it!

Most times I cannot begin to say what inspires me to create a painting because it's usually an emotion. I feel the urge and have to plunge my hands in. These paintings are a perfect example.
The rocks were collected specifically for these pieces from my walks in nature. Rising beyond represents how much I see of the natural world, the cracks, the moss, the patterns and textures created by water, ice, rock and shadows.
